Melvin Lewis Brown, Sr.

January 18, 1949 - August 28, 2018

Mr. Melvin Lewis Brown, son of the late John Otis and Iola Hill-Brown was born on January 18, 1949 in Hickory, North Carolina. Melvin suddenly departed this life into eternal rest on August 28, 2018 at his home at 539 Park Rd., Washington, DC. He graduate from Cardoza High School in Washington DC and retired from the DC Government Library. To the union of a marriage to Mary Harley a loving son was born, Melvin L. Brown, Jr. Melvin is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Otis James Brown and Calvin Lynn Brown. He leaves to cherish his memories one son, Melvin L. Brown, Jr., daughter-in-law Alice Brown of Aiken, SC and one grandson, Devin Brown of Aiken, SC and; five sisters, Mattie M. Brown (Washington, DC), Frances Holloway (Roxboro, NC), Hattie L. Brown (Washington, DC), Sonora Brown Conaway (Washington, DC) and Nellene Hoey (Waldolf, MD). He is also survived by one sister-in-law, Xemenia Lavern Brown and a host of nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends. God saw the road was getting rough, His hills were hard to climb; So quietly He called him home, And said “Sweet Peace Be Thine.” As we remember the life of our precious loved one, Melvin, we thank God for the memorable times he allowed him to share with us.
