Mr. Spencer Marion Lynch

Spencer Marion Lynch was born on March 11, 1942 to the late Sam and Florine Lynch (Hedgepeth) in Newport News, VA. On Monday, April 7, 2014, God extended his almighty hand of love and called Spencer to eternal rest. At an early age, he accepted Christ and attended Pine Chapel Baptist Church in Hollister, North Carolina. He was educated in Halifax County and DC public schools and later served in the U.S. Army. Spencer obtained his CDL license and drove tractor trailers for several companies, including Tri-State Motor Transit and Sealtest (Kraft) Dairy. He then went on to purchase his own 18-wheeler and became an independent owner/operator. He loved to drive and could give you directions to anywhere you wanted to go. He also loved to go fishing. Each time he would return from fishing and tell us he caught the biggest fish ever -- it turned out to be smaller than your hand. Spencer was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the American Legion. Spencer's first marriage ended in divorce, but there were three children born from this union -- Spencer, Rosslyn and the late Renee. On November 23, 1984, Spencer married his soul mate, Joyce. He accepted her three children -- Victoria, Edward, and Michele -- as his own. Joyce was the love of his life and took very good care of him until his demise. Before his health started to decline, Spencer and Joyce took many vacations and visited casinos in Cherokee, North Carolina, Charlestown, West Virginia and Atlantic City, New Jersey. They enjoyed their life together. Spencer leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife Joyce; two sons -- Spencer and Edward; three daughters -- Rosslyn, Victoria, and Michele; four brothers -- Calvin, Quinton (Linda), Donnell (Geri), and Michael (Bridgette) Hedgepeth; six sisters -- Almarine Williams, Victoria Escobar, Roberta Lynch, Magdalena (Willie) Creighton, Elaina Lynch, and Sandra (Nathan) Cooper; four grandchildren -- D'Mitrius Lynch, Ashley Richardson, Monet Lynch, and Shanita Wilson; one great grandson -- Damien. He was preceded in death by his parents -- Sam and Florine Lynch; one sister Claytise Lynch and his daughter Renee Lynch. He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
